GENERAL ENGLISH

This course has been designed for students who need to improve their general day-to-day spoken English.  Classes are speaking-focussed so students are encouraged to speak as much as possible to use new skills and practice new vocabulary.  At the end of each week, students are tested on the verbal, grammatical and speaking skills they have learned through written tests on the verbal, grammatical and speaking skills they have learned through written tests and oral presentations.  Students must satisfy the requirements of each level before they are able to proceed to the next.  Each level is 12 weeks in duration.

Evening class time: Monday - Friday 4:45-9pm (20 hours / week)

The IELTS program has been designed to prepare students for all aspects of the IELTS test (Academic and General). Due to the content demand of the IELTS test there is a heavy load of take-home assignments that students must complete to satisfy the requirements of the program. To obtain an optimal score on the IELTS test, students must learn about current global problems, business and industry, science and technology, controversial issues, environmental issues and family matters. Students who successfully complete the 12 week IELTS program are eligible for direct entry into the certificate and diploma programs at Kelly Colleges.

English entry requirement IELTS 5.0 or equivalent on Kelly Colleges’ entrance test

English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
12 Weeks | Day Classes

This course has been developed to provide students with an in-depth range of skills necessary for tertiary or vocational study. Students graduate with a statement of attainment and a written report. Students who complete the Kelly Colleges’ EAP course can enter university with competence and confidence for successful further study. The Kelly Colleges’ student counsellor can assist students to plan for further study after completion of this course. Students are expected to have an intermediate level of English fluency upon entry into the EAP course and are required to take a pre-course language assessment to ascertain their English level and to identify any specific training needs. Students who successfully complete the requirements of the EAP program can gain direct entry into the Certificate IV and Diploma Programs at Kelly Colleges and various courses at partnering institutions.

Kelly Colleges EAP + CQUniversity MPA | MBA Program

Students who study 12 weeks at EAP advanced level can enter directly into CQUniversity's Masters of Professional Accounting (MPA) or Masters of Business Administration Programs (MBA).

CAMBRIDGE FCE
12 Weeks | Evening Classes

The First Certificate in English (FCE) is a Cambridge ESOL examination course, which provides Intermediate English language learners with a Cambridge accredited certificate. Upon passing the exam, students will receive a certificate that is internationally recognised for employment and study purposes. The Kelly Colleges' FCE course focuses on the development and practice of five main language skills: speaking, listening, reading, writing, and use of English in the appropriate grammatical context. During the 12-week course students will:

  • focus on the strategies and study skills needed to perform well on the test
  • be taught by experienced FCE instructors
  • have regular practice examinations
